Our Story

Old World Market, which was established in 1982, is a family-owned business that has been serving local communities in Chicago’s north side, and beyond, for decades.

Beginning in the early 1990s, OWM slowly transitioned to serving more West African communities by carrying products that were in high demand, but seldom sold in the vicinity. Various meats and flours, such as gari, farina and semolina, were added to the shelves and the changes were widely welcomed by the community.

Today, Old World Market is the select grocer for customers from all around the country. Many drive hours regularly to shop and OWM is appreciative of the community support throughout the years. With the dedication to quality service and products, OWM has served generation after generation and they will continue.
